An Ark for the Apocalypse explores the build-up to the war in Ukraine and the extradition of Julian Assange.
This piece was inspired by the colosseums, which fulfilled a propaganda function throughout the Roman empire to spread messages that Rome was great. Many places that were conquered, often with unrestrained brutality, would have had one to broadcast Rome's manufactured truths.
This piece was inspired by the idea that war is the result of historical, cultural, racial, tribal, or religious hatred. The Mafia, KKK, and white supremacists use religion. Hitler's “Reich Church” replaced the bible on alters with "Mein Kampf.” Extremists in Iran used it to hijack a legitimate movement against corruption and brutality, and same with the Arab Spring.
This piece was inspired by the historical and cultural hatred of Swedes, Norwegians and Danes who were at war with each other for hundreds of years.
June 1997, Diana visited the US in a big push to ban land mines and 57 senators got on board. 18 August 1997, the US finally joined the Ottawa Process to ban land mines. 31 August 1997, Diana was killed. 18th September 1997, the US announced it was withdrawing from the Ottawa Process because it had not been able to get the necessary support.
This piece was inspired by Bill Clinton's hands, which were tied even though he said "landmines kill more children than soldiers". Clinton abolished the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency created by Kennedy (read Halsted 1993), and began the expansion of NATO trying to convince Russia that it would be to everyone's advantage (read Mitchell 1996).
This piece was inspired by Henry Kissinger who formed Kissinger Associates in 1982 (temporarily Kissinger McLarty Associates from 1999 to 2009 with Clinton's former chief of staff Mack McLarty). It sold strategy and lobbying services to select U.S. and multinational companies, and "advised clients on government relations throughout the world." Kissinger Associates doesn’t disclose its clients under U.S. lobbying laws and once threatened to sue Congress to resist a subpoena for the client list.
This piece was inspired by Vladimir Putin's friendship with Henry Kissinger. In 2002, Time reported while only 8% of US oil came from Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabia controlled 30% of the world's known oil reserves giving them power over the world's energy market. With new oil sources opening up in Russia and Central Asian states, the U.S. suddenly had alternatives it didn't previously have.
Trying to imagine Kissinger-Putin meetings and Kissinger-US presidents meetings, with Kissinger trying to keep Putin soft while the US was cranking up NATO. The INF treaty signed by Reagan and Gorbachev in 1987, which banned missiles with ranges between 500 and 5,500km, collapsed in 2019 because the US accused Russia of violating it by deploying a new type of missile. Kissinger says "Russia was threatened by the absorption of this whole area [East] into Nato."
In the 1970's, the US jumped at the opportunity for an alliance with China to not have both Russia and China as enemies. Kissinger dampened criticism of the regime and opened doors for US firms there. The Telegraph reports he is now advising European leaders to consider their long-term relationship with Russia so as to not risk strengthening the bond between the Kremlin and China, one of its strongest allies during the invasion.
CAMPO CHRISSY is a collection of 18 individual still image pieces about a small dog with poor eyesight who follows her dream of taking over from the Queen of England.
“How can you prove whether at this moment we are sleeping, and all our thoughts are a dream; or whether we are awake, and talking to one another in the waking state?” Plato
